Certified Service and Therapy Dog for the students, faculty, and community of West Sand Lake Elementary School
Grant Amount: $13,800
Grant Writers: Meghan Beauchamp, Counselor, WSL School and Keri Rosher, WSL Principal
Funding was requested and awarded for the purchase and training of a certified service and therapy dog. This grant allowed Tori to obtain her CGC and therapy dog Certification.
She is able to “attend school” on a regular schedule, visiting classroom and meeting with students, participating in service sessions including: Speech, OT, Pt, Psychologists, Academic Intervention Services and Special Education.
Research has shown that utilizing a trained therapy dog in the school setting creates a more positive, calm and “safe” learning environment.
